Responsibilities
Responsible for the mechanical design and optimization of containerized modular products, such as data centers, telecom base stations, and power modules;
Design and generate structural components such as sheet metal parts, frame structures, mounting brackets, and protective enclosures;
Collaborate with electrical engineers on internal equipment layout, cable routing, securing, and connector placement;
Prepare and deliver technical documentation including 2D/3D drawings, exploded views, and bill of materials (BOM);
Follow up on prototyping and fabrication processes such as welding, bending, painting, and assembly to ensure manufacturability;
Support structural reliability validation including IP protection, strength analysis, and lifting/transportation integrity;
Troubleshoot structural issues such as interference, insufficient strength, or unreasonable cable routing during assembly;
Assist in structural documentation and technical support for certifications such as UL, CE, and ISO;
Support product NPI (New Product Introduction), design changes, and post-release technical service.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Design, Mechatronics, or related fields;
Minimum 3 years of experience in structural design; background in containerized modular systems or industrial equipment preferred;
Familiar with structural materials such as sheet metal, steel frames, and aluminum profiles, along with corresponding manufacturing techniques;
Proficient in design tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD; familiar with PDM/PLM systems;
Basic understanding of electrical wiring design, including cable routing, terminal placement, and harness fixing;
Experience in IP protection, EMI shielding, thermal or anti-seismic design is a plus;
Strong communication skills and proven ability to collaborate across departments and execute projects effectively;
Capable of reading and writing English technical documents and international standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with container-related standards such as ISO 1496, UL 2755, or CSC certification;
Experience in telecom, power or data center equipment development;
Experience with EPLAN, Zuken or other electrical design tools preferred;
Willingness to travel or stay at manufacturing sites for support;
Holds valid U.S. and Japan visas, and able to travel internationally for short-term assignments;
Fluent in English (speaking, listening, reading, and writing), capable of daily project communication and meetings.
